The 29 MDC members who are facing false charges of murdering a police officer in Glen View, Harare in May last year were today remanded to 1 March at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts.

They are facing fake charges of murdering the policeman at Glen View 3 Shopping Centre last year.  The police officer was murdered by unknown revellers at a night club.

Meanwhile, seven of those facing the murder charges were on Friday granted bail at the Supreme Court by Deputy Chief Judge, Justice Luke Malaba.  They walked out of the prison walls today after the late processing of the warrants of liberation.

The seven had been in remand prison since their arrest in May last year.

Glen View councillor, Tungamirai Madzokere was granted bail of US$1 000 while brothers Lazarus and Stanford Maengahama, Phineas Nhatarikwa, Stanford Mangwiro, Yvonne Musarurwa and Rebecca Mafikeni were granted US$500 each.

However, three other members, Solomon Madzore, the MDC Youth Assembly chairperson, Jefias Moyo and Paul Rukanda are still in remand prison.

In Chipinge, Manicaland province, the court ruling for Chipinge West MP, Hon. Sibonile Nyamudeza who is facing another false charge of theft could not kick off last Friday after the magistrate failed to turn up to give his judgment.

This is the second time that Magistrate Vuso Gapara, has failed to appear in court to give his judgment.

Hon. Nyamudeza is being falsely accused of using seven pre-cast pipes belonging to the District Development Fund (DDF) when he constructed a 15km road in Chipinge West under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) programme.

He has pleaded not guilty to the theft charges and said it was his mandate to ensure full representation of his constituency by spearheading developmental projects.

It is the state case that in the period between February1 to 28 2011, Hon. Nyamudeza took seven pre-cast pipes belonging to DDF. The pipes were meant to repair the Tanganda – Bangwe link road in Chipinge.

The MP is alleged to have stolen the DDF’s 900mm x 1.2m pipes which were lying by the roadside.
